Saturday's Jumble - A Great Start To The Year

Welcome To The Jumble

On Saturday we gathered at St Matthews in Northampton for our opening event of the year - the Vintage Jumble. The January Jumble is becoming so popular that I think it has already become a bit of a tradition, despite it being only the second time it has happened. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a great day.

One Of Stalls At The Jumble
The bitterly cold weather which we have 'enjoyed' for the last week certainly did not deter all the lovely fans of vintage who arrived en masse on Saturday. The stalls looked great, they were piled high with vintage bargains and the sales rooms were literally full of people browsing and buying.

All The Fun Of The Jumble

It was great to see that a queue had formed at the door and I did feel for the people waiting patiently outside as I knew how cold they felt (I had been out at 7am putting up bunting around St Matthews Church - it was freezing then and hardly any warmer by mid-morning).

Thank You To Everyone Who Came Along

Once again there was a great atmosphere around the Jumble (despite some last moment music problems - my old Ipod finally decided to retire - which lead to a scramble for cds) and people seemed very pleased with their finds.

Alice from BBC Homes & Antiques Magazine had a stall with us at the Jumble and will be joining us again on 23rd March for 'Vintage in the Park', a special Easter Vintage Fair taking place in the Grade 1 listed Abington Park Museum in Northampton. I will have more to say about this event in a later post.

Another Stall From The Jumble

Textiles are always well represented, particularly embroidered linens and 40s/50s fabrics, I particularly liked this small collection of 60s blankets with bold geometric designs.

I also spotted quite a few pretty old woollen rugs, they are usually quite small, a little larger than a contemporary bathroom mat, which makes them ideal to place in front of an open fire if you have a dog at home - let your pooch relax in vintage style. We use them around our home (and so does our Beardie!).

I have to admit that once again I contrived to leave it far too late to go around taking photos - thank you to everyone who forwarded some pictures from the day after my 'appeal for help' on Facebook.
Once again thank you for helping to make the Jumble a very enjoyable day.

Our Next Destination

We look forward to seeing you in Market Harborough on 2nd  February.
